Kitchen Remodel Highlights AMEK’s Attention To Detail

Measure twice and cut once is a old carpenter saying. At AMEK Custom Builders that saying can be adapted to fit the company’s attention to detail when it comes to working with, and meeting the needs of, its clients no matter the scope or square footage of a project.

Take the case of the Schwartz family of Bloomington. The client came to AMEK through a professional relationship. They had purchased a commercial-grade stove and were looking to make it the centerpiece of a kitchen remodel.

Matt Schmidt, who leads AMEK’s Design and Build team, went to the family’s home and learned the details of what they sought. After walking through a variety of kitchen remodel options, the Schwartzes settled on those that made the most sense for their lifestyle and budget.

“We help them figure out what options they have for what they want and what they have to spend,” Matt said. “The client drives us through the entire process.”

The Schwartz’s took care of scraping the ceiling and installing the recessed lighting and asked AMEK to help with the rest of the kitchen remodel.

Among the project highlights:

  • Reusing some of the kitchen cabinets by extending them to the ceiling and refacing and enameling them to match the new cabinets that were installed.
  • Granite countertops.
  • A custom stainless steel backsplash created from a variety of designs AMEK provided.

In the end the project wasn’t the largest done by AMEK this year, but to the Schwartzes it was certainly the most important one. That is why Matt made sure the project details were accounted for before the first hammer was swung and closely monitored the project along each step.

How did the Schwartz’s respond to Matt’s work? “They invited me and my family over for dinner after the project was finished,” Matt said. “I brought the ribeyes. We all had a great time.”

In addition to AMEK Custom Builders adding another kitchen remodel to their resume, AMEK also added a new friendship into its professional family.
